Star Spangled Salute Relationship Summary
Air Force air shows are valuable community events that increase public awareness and understanding of the armed forces and the mission, policies and programs of the United States Air Force. Military air shows support recruiting by inspiring patriotism and encouraging young men and women to serve in the military.
Star Spangled Salute is part of a 10-day Star Spangled Centennial Salute week, that is put on by Aerospace America and Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism Council (EOCTC) to celebrate our local military, to promote the Air Show event, to provide media touch points, to support military recruiting opportunities and to support Aerospace and EOCTC sponsor/partner needs.
About the Star Spangled Salute
Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism Council (EOCTC) was formed in 1995 for the purpose of joint promotional ventures and multi-community based events. In 1997, EOCTC created the Star Spangled Salute 4th of July celebration. EOCTC is comprised of nine communities including Choctaw, Del City, Forest Park, Harrah, Jones, Midwest City, Nicoma Park, Spencer and Tinker Air Force Base. EOCTC is a proud partner with Tinker AFB in bringing this celebrated Air Show and Fireworks spectacular.
Aerospace America is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, civilian organization with the mission of promoting aviation as well as the importance of American air and space power and the vital role of the men and women serving in the United States Air Force. Aerospace America is working to assist the Air Force in organizing and producing the 2008 Star Spangled Salute Air Show at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.
For 19 years, Aerospace America has thrilled millions of Oklahoman's and those visiting our great state, and brings back a world class support system to Tinker Air Force Base to help elevate, and support this public event. Aerospace America in conjunction with Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism Council and STAAR Solutions is working together to create a series of pre-air show events that will lead up to the two-day air show event.
The Star Spangled Salute Committee comprised of members of Aerospace America, EOCTC and Team Tinker is charged by the Tinker AFB Commander to oversee and monitor all aspects of the event. Aerospace America and EOCTC coordinates all Partnership Agreements with the Executive Committee to assure compliance with public law, Air Force directives and Command guidance. Executive Committee oversight of Aerospace and EOCTC activities ensures that all donations compliment the theme of the air show while supporting Air Force objectives for hosting the event.
Since inception of the Star Spangled Salute air show in 2004, Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism Council has been recognized by the appropriate Commanders at Tinker Air Force Base to assist with organizing, planning, developing, promoting and executing the event. Aerospace America is participating for the first time in helping to triple the amount of aeronautical acts, media support and partnership agreements. Aerospace America and Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism Council accepts donations from individuals and organizations (Partners) committed to supporting the air show and the Air Force, then donates support and services to the event and its associated causes, programs and activities. The Air Force, Tinker Air Force Base and the community benefit from this relationship.
Aerospace America nor Eastern Oklahoma County Tourism does not intend to imply formal endorsement of the Air Force or any government organization. By law, Tinker Air Force Base, the Air Force or the Federal government can not endorse any partner or organization supporting the Star Spangled Salute Air Show.
